Theale Link

We're trying an experiment to see if we can revive Theale Link,  which stopped publication a year ago after many years of sterling effort by Molly Rossiter and others to distribute it around the village.  We started this in June and it's been a great success with over 60 copies downloaded and distributed.

We're asking for volunteers to distribute a printed version of news items from this website - the "new" Theale Link !

All you have to do is click on the "Theale Link" tab above and you'll see a PDF version of the web site. You can then print this out and distribute copies locally to your neighbours who either don't have Internet access or aren't aware of www.theale.ws.

We'll update the new Theale Link each month on the 1st of the month.  Why not join our newsletter email list and get reminders each month?

Update:  As at 16th July, 126 people have downloaded the July issue !  Have you?

Anyone else seen this bird?

This bird was recently spotted and photographed just outside of our parish on the Bleadney Moor by Bernard Coulter

In an interview with Bernard he said 'I think it's lost it's way - this hoopoe is a long way from home -

Perhaps another casualty of the volcanic ash disruption and can't get a flight home?!'

Anybody else spotted it?

Somerset Waste Partnership

By now you'll have received a leaflet in the post from Sedgemoor DC about changes to Waste Collection Services from July 2010 - called "Sort It PLUS" (you can download a copy of the leaflet here).

To help you understand the changes SWP have also organised a roadshow at Theale Village Hall on 20th May at midday.

The new weekly service will provide

  • Weekly recycling collections
  • Weekly collections of kitchen food waste
  • Optional (chargeable) collections of garden waste
  • Fortnightly collections of non-recyclable refuse, using a newly provided free "wheelie bin"

SWP will be providing containers free of charge and you can change the size for a fee. You need to return the application form for additional items before 26th May.
